Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear mismatched, but the actions of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the team access places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Fans can expect learning which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
